Akihabara Electric Town is an area within the Akihabara district in Tokyo, Japan. It is affectionately known as Akiba. Just outside the Electric Town exit of JR Akihabara station, the area is full of electronics shops. It is a mecca for anime, manga and game fans and anyone else with an interest in Japanese subculture or otaku culture. Whether you are looking for old game systems, the latest fan comics, or opportunities to meet cosplayers and like-minded people, Akihabara Electric Town will satisfy all your shopping and entertainment needs. Note that some shops sell adult videos or even sex toys and may not be suitable for children. Also, many smaller shops change ownership quickly and it may be helpful to get the latest information from locals who know the area and its fast-paced nature well.
